Internet Explorer 8 Cool Tips

Posted by lauranov on June 9, 2009

So when you start using Internet Explorer  8 (just upgrade from your current version if you haven’t already) there are a few neat little tricks that I have been using that I want to pass on.   The first one that I thought was useful is the ability to have more than one homepage.  When I open up the browser I have 5 tabs that open automatically to my most used sites, such as MSN, my Facebook page, Twitter, WordPress, and LinkedIn.  It is very convenient to be able to click through and use these sites immediately.  To do this just go to Tools and in that drop down menu go to Internet Options.  When the box pops up in the first tab (General) The first thing you see is the Home Page section.  Just add whichever Urls you want on separate lines in the space provided like this:

The next trick that I use is to add a few favorites links to your tool bar.  Next to the favorites button you will see a little star with an arrow pointing to the right.  When you are on a page that you use a lot just click on that star and you will see a new tab in that tool bar.  Its just another tool that makes using it much more efficient. You can take off which ones you don’t use by doing a right click on the button and clicking delete.  Happy surfing!
